MatchWithRandom

Comparison

Umingle alternative: an honest comparison

Umingle went from almost nothing to one of the most-searched names in random chat inside a year. It also matches us on nearly every point we normally differentiate on.

What Umingle is

Umingle is a browser-based random chat service offering both text and video. Its own homepage describes connecting you with strangers for instant text or video chat based on your interests, and claimed just under 17,000 people online when we checked.

Its growth is the remarkable part and it is measurable. US searches for the brand ran at around 110 a month in August 2025. By January 2026 they were 301,000, and from April to July 2026 they held at 550,000 a month. That is not a gradual rise, and it explains why it now appears in almost every discussion of Omegle replacements.

The product itself is close to ours: no account, both modes, browser-only. Where it goes further is interest-based matching, where you add optional topics and get paired with people who listed similar ones, and a stated moderation approach combining automated systems with human moderators.

What it costs and what it asks for

Nothing, on its own wording: "Instant and Anonymous. No sign-up needed. Click once and you are chatting." We found no paid tier and no pricing of any kind on the site.

It is also browser-only by choice, not omission. Its FAQ says Umingle runs in any modern browser on phones, tablets and desktops, and that no app is required. That is the same position we take, and it is unusual for a service at its scale.

  • No sign-up, stated on their homepage
  • No paid tier found
  • Text and video, both available
  • Browser-only — no app required, by their own FAQ
  • Optional interest tags for matching

Where Umingle is the better choice

  • Interest-based matching. You add optional topics and get paired with people who listed similar ones. We match at random with nothing to filter on, so this is a straightforward advantage.
  • A far larger active pool, which matters more than any feature in a product where the queue is the product.
  • A stated moderation approach combining automated systems with human moderators, and published community rules.
  • It asks no more of you at the door than we do — no account, no app, no payment — so switching away from it costs you nothing and gains you nothing on that axis.

Where MatchWithRandom is

  • Not much, and it would be dishonest to pad this. Umingle matches us on no signup, on offering both text and video, on being browser-only and on being free.
  • Message text is not stored once a chat ends, and we say plainly what is: a record of each match and a log of connections.
  • No interests to enter before you start, if you would rather be matched with someone genuinely unlike you than someone who typed the same tag.

Common questions

Is Umingle free?

Yes. We found no paid tier and no pricing on the site, and its homepage states no sign-up is needed.

Does Umingle need an account?

No. Its homepage says "Instant and Anonymous. No sign-up needed. Click once and you are chatting."

What are sites like Umingle?

The closest are Joingy, Chatroulette, Tinychat, Shagle and ChatHub — all allow chatting without registering, and all offer text alongside video. Chatspin and OmeTV are larger but ask for an account or a payment for their filters.

Does Umingle have interest matching?

Yes. You add optional topics and its system prioritises pairing you with people who listed similar ones. Its own examples are tags like gaming or youtube.

Why use MatchWithRandom instead of Umingle?

On features, Umingle offers more — interest matching in particular. The honest case for us is that matching here is purely random, with no interests or filters to set before you start.

How this was checked: Checked against umingle.com on 10 September 2026. Search volumes are DataForSEO figures for the US market, same date. These services change their pricing and signup requirements often. If you find something here that is out of date, it is a bug — tell us and we will correct it.
