What random text chat actually is

You are put in a queue. Someone else is in the same queue. The moment the two of you are matched, a private one-to-one conversation opens and you can start typing. There is no room full of people, no account and nothing to read first — just a display name, your gender and age, and an 18+ confirmation the first time.

When you have had enough you skip, and you are back in the queue for someone new. That is the entire product. The simplicity is the point — every extra step between arriving and talking is a step where people leave.

Why people choose text over video

Text is not the fallback mode for when your camera fails. For a lot of people it is the only mode they would ever use, and the reasons are consistent:

• Nobody sees your face, your room, or what you are wearing.
• It works on a slow connection and on an old phone, where video stutters or will not start.
• You can chat somewhere video would be impossible — a quiet office, a shared room, public transport.
• Typing gives you a second to think. Video does not.
• No camera permission prompt, which is the single biggest reason people abandon a random chat site on the first visit.

How matching works

Matching is random and one-to-one. You are not dropped into a group room, and you are not shown a queue of profiles to swipe through. The next person is whoever happened to be waiting.

Random matching is what makes the conversation worth having. You are not talking to someone because an algorithm decided you were compatible — you are talking to someone you would never otherwise have met, which is a different and much stranger kind of conversation.

What we do about the obvious problem

Any site that connects strangers at random attracts people who abuse it. Pretending otherwise would be dishonest, and every site in this category that claims to have solved it is overselling.

What we do: every chat has a report button, reports are queued for human review, and repeated or severe violations block that person from being matched again. Skipping is instant and unlimited — you never have to justify leaving a conversation.

What we do not do: we do not claim the site is safe for under-18s. It is not, and it is not intended for them.
