What is 1v1 chat?

1v1 chat means a private conversation between exactly two people: you and one stranger, with nobody else watching or joining. It is the opposite of a group room or a livestream, where one person performs and many watch.

In 1v1 video chat both of you are on camera — what people also call cam to cam. In 1v1 text chat nobody is on camera at all. Both are one-to-one here, and the choice is yours before you start.

Here, 1v1 is the only format there is. You are matched with one person, the conversation is between the two of you, and when either of you skips, each of you is matched with someone new.

How does 1v1 chat work here?

Give a display name, gender and age the first time, press start, allow camera and microphone access, and you are matched with the next person waiting. There is no profile to browse and no one to pick. The match is random, so the next face is whoever happened to be in the queue.

Either of you can skip at any point, and there is no limit on how many times. The video travels peer-to-peer wherever the network allows, so it goes between the two of you rather than through a server that keeps a copy.

Is 1v1 video chat free, or does it need coins?

It is free here, with no coins, no credits and no paid tier. A 1v1 call costs nothing at the start, in the middle or when it runs long.

That is worth saying because a lot of what ranks for "1v1 video chat" works differently. Several of the apps in those results sell coins, and some recruit hosts to take calls. Chamet’s own search listing, for example, offers "free coins to start" and links to a "Become a host" page, when we checked on 16 September 2026. That is a legitimate business model, but it is a different product: a paid call with someone who is working, not a random conversation with another person who pressed start.

Can I choose who I get matched with?

No. Matching is random, with no gender filter, no country filter and no interest tags. If you want to choose the kind of person you talk to, a service with filters will suit you better, and it would be misleading to suggest otherwise.

Many of the sites that rank for 1v1 chat advertise video calls "with girls". We do not, because we cannot promise who you will be matched with, and a page that implies otherwise would only waste your time.

Can I do 1v1 chat without a camera?

Yes. Text chat is also strictly one-to-one: one stranger, a private conversation, and nothing but typing. It never asks for camera permission.

Plenty of people start with text and move to video once they are comfortable, and plenty never turn a camera on at all. Both are normal uses of the site.

What should I know before a 1v1 video call?

Assume the other person can record their screen. That is true on every video chat service, whatever it promises, so do not do anything on camera you would not want saved.

Check what is behind you before you start. A visible address, a school or work badge, or post on a desk gives away more than people expect. If a call turns unpleasant, skip, and if it is worse than unpleasant, report it first so a human reviews it. You must be 18 or older to use the site.
