Azar alternative: no app, no account

Azar is one of the largest random video chat services in the world. It is also, in practice, impossible to use without installing the app.

What Azar is

Azar is a global video chat app with a very large international user base, particularly strong across Asia and the Middle East. It ranks first for "random video chat" in the US on brand strength rather than on any depth of web content.

Its most genuinely useful feature is real-time translation, which makes conversation across a language barrier actually workable rather than a novelty.

It is app-only in practice. Fetching either of its web domains returns a page with essentially no content — the site is a shell that exists to send you to an app store. Its sitemap contains a couple of URLs in total.

What it costs and what it asks for

Azar requires the app and an account. On top of that it runs a gem economy: a paid in-app currency used for its better features, including matching preferences.

That combination — install, register, then pay for the useful parts — is a long way from the no-friction experience people usually mean by random chat. What you get in return is scale and translation, and for a lot of users that is a fair trade.

  • App install effectively required
  • Account required
  • Gems: paid in-app currency
  • Real-time translation built in

Where Azar is the better choice

  • An enormous international user base — far larger than anything a newer site can offer, and genuinely global rather than concentrated in one region.
  • Built-in real-time translation, which we do not have and which makes cross-language conversation practical.
  • A mature, well-built native app on both platforms.

Where MatchWithRandom is

  • Works in a browser, on desktop and mobile. Azar effectively requires the app.
  • No account and no signup.
  • No paid currency. Nothing is gated behind gems or any other token.
  • Text chat as a full mode, which Azar does not centre.

Which one should you actually use

You want to talk to people who do not share your language, and you are happy to install an app and buy gems to do it.
Pick MatchWithRandom if
You are on a desktop, or you want to chat without installing anything or creating an account.

Common questions

Can I use Azar without downloading the app?

Not realistically. Azar is built around its mobile apps — its web domains serve essentially no content and exist mainly to point you at an app store.

Is Azar free?

It is free to start, but it uses a paid gem currency for many features, including matching preferences.

What is a good Azar alternative for desktop?

MatchWithRandom runs in any desktop browser with no install and no account. Chatroulette and Chatspin are also browser-based options with large user bases.

Does any alternative offer translation?

Azar is the strongest option specifically for translation. We do not offer it, and if talking across a language barrier is your main goal, Azar is the better tool.

How this was checked: Checked against azar.live and azarlive.com on 22 August 2026. Both returned effectively empty pages to a plain fetch, which is itself the finding. These services change their pricing and signup requirements often. If you find something here that is out of date, it is a bug — tell us and we will correct it.
